Whether you are a young couple or adults with or without children: Who among us does not accumulate souvenirs, objects, and clothes over the years? Even if you are not one of those who hoard excessively - storage spaces are a "must" in every home, and the truth is that we need as many of them as possible!
Personally, I'm a storage freak, and this is one of the things I always make sure to design, as much as possible, and in a creative way that doesn't come at the expense of other things in the house but instead of a dead space that is unnoticed and may be turned into the most useful space in the house.
In this blog, I will show some examples of the projects I have planned over the years to inspire you and give you a small glimpse…
A storage solution in the hallway:
Usually, the hallway is a "wasted" area. It is a long and rather narrow axis of movement that leads us to the bedrooms. As you can see in this picture, I created a delineation on both sides of the hallway with custom carpentry cabinets containing plenty of storage spaces and even a laundry room hidden in one of the doors.
In fact, I created a whole world of storage without harming the house's visual appearance. The wooden doors are simply immersed and integrated with the wall.
Enlarging the storage space in the kitchen:
Who does not need storage spaces in the kitchen and as many as possible???
No matter how big our kitchen is, we will always need room for another set of glasses, plates, or cans in the pantry.
The picture shows how, instead of making a delineation of a built wall to separate the kitchen area and pantry part from the rest of the space, I removed the built wall and planned a carpentry wall, thereby I was able to steal a few more important centimeters for storage in the pantry.
Another example of special storage integrated as a decorative element I created in the kitchen in another project of mine is at the entrance to the kitchen. I designed an impressive vertical wine rack made of black tin that reaches the ceiling so that the entire area up to the top was used for storage and, of course, to create the "wow" effect
An integrated TV unit:
In almost every living room, there is a "TV wall". You can mount it directly on the wall or plan a lower bookcase to place the DTA. Still, I usually try to think outside the box and include as many functions as possible, which we are not always aware of, in that space.
The attached picture shows how I hid the media unit inside the wooden cabinets painted with Shlifelaque surrounding the TV. On the side, I designed open niches made of black wood to create an interesting visual game and provide us with more storage spaces. In this unit, which extends over the living room wall, a long fireplace and an air conditioning unit located at the back that throws air into the space in a controlled and hidden manner were also designed, so in this case, the television is just an excuse ;]
Storage along the stairwell:
In this case, the central element of the house is a tin bookcase that climbs to a height of two floors. The bookcase faces the living room, the stairwell, and a workstation on the upper floor and thus actually fulfills several important functions - practicality, storage, and aesthetics.
